Our baby turned 1 this past weekend and we celebrated with some of our family and closest friends on a super sunny and bright day. It had rained for a week straight, I think, so we weren't about to spend it indoors despite the cold. Even though I had set the table and decorated the house, we all hung out by the pool. You learn to adapt when you have a child. Zoe also decided that right after her guests arrived would be a great time for an hour nap. Cool.
We kept everything SUPER simple. We're not ones to fuss around much. All decor was from the Dollar Spot at Target, we grilled hot dogs and burgers and family brought some sides and dessert. The only fancy thing we did was the cake that Zoe "smashed" - the recipe is delicious but the cake was a little dense so there wasn't much smashing, more picking. Recipe can be found on Hello Bee. Zoe's special birthday shirt is from a store on etsy. I had bought it back in January and almost forgot to put it on her the day of! Mom brain for sure.
It was so nice having a super small party and we can't believe our baby is now a TODDLER!
